Despite the late season collapse that cost the Kylies the Division Six title last season the club still did enough to be promoted. The Division Five season didn't start well. It was a taste of things to come.

Garratt was back in goal after missing the previous season through injury and turned in a Spoons-winning performance as the bare eleven turned out. There were two debuts - Cook, the cultured but glass-like defender, and Harries a stylish midfielder who could look after himself.
