The Kylie, May 1999 - Issue 1 (Part one)

Kylies Send Lamb To The Slaughter

For the first time in a long tim the Kylies were on the brink of relegation to Div 6. On a sunny Sunday at Mannington we were facing The Lamb at Marlborough, the lads turned up in high spirits and ready for action, we went out with only one thing on our minds - to win.

We had a great start when Phil 'Two Touch Dollar' Ausden was put through and scored, this was doubled when Mark Watling hit a sweet shot into the bottom right hand corner.

The Lamb then pulled one back before half time to make it 2-1. After another inspiring team talk by Stuart 'Sipper' Gould the lads came out firing on all cylinders, we dominated the play only to be drawn back level by a 30 yard scorcher from the Lamb which Andy 'The Falcon' Humphries could not stop.

We now knew that if we wanted to stay up we had to battle. An inspired substitution saw Scholesy come on and the Kylies go on to win 4-2 with goals from Phil 'Two Touch Dollar' Ausden and Richie 'The Spoons' Rees. We had done it. Secured Division 5 football next season an we were proud of it. Well done the lads!!!
