Lamb fleece Kylies again
4 October 1998, Division Five at Marlborough
The Lamb Marlborough 3 KMLC FC 1
The Kylies had a long rivalry with Akers Garage (we tussled at the top with them in the early seasons) and shorter ones with Highworth Plough (many of them were known to some of the team) and The Lamb Marlborough.
This rivalry was mainly down to the fact we couldn't understand how we couldn't beat them at their place. It wasn't a very wide pitch with the corner flags seemingly a couple of yards from the edge of the penalty area - did it stop us playing our expansive brand of football?
Here's another example. Watling got our goal and was one of a triple MVP selection with Goldsworthy and G.Payne. Were they the only players who weren't terrible or did we all play well and were unlucky who knows? Rees got his second straight Spoons so something was familiar about the way we played!
