On the 18th March 1993, THE KYLIES made a bold bid to enter the Swindon Sunday Football League. The relevant information was sent to the League Secretary and then it was a case of waiting.
With the backing of Ex Middlesbrough FC Pro* PAUL McPARLAND, Landlord of The Famous Alehouse, we put forward a reasonable case. Our application was rejected due to the lack of friendly games played prior to our application and the lack of places available. We were one of fifteen hopefuls looking for six places.
Since this refusal, I have spoken to Ivor Cottrell, The League's Fixture Secretary, and he has informed me that as long as we play a good amount of friendlies we stand a very good chance of getting into the League next year by virtue of being refused the season before.
With a little commitment from "EVERYBODY" I'm sure we could enjoy at least one season of League Football. As with the few games played already, it has been well supported and well enjoued by all involved.
Let's enjoy our games this season and hope for the best next year.
* Editor's Note - are we sure about this though?
