Gould goal squeezes win against Grapes

31 March 1996, Division Seven at Mannington

After two goals last week Stu was once again the difference maker with the only goal of this game. There was a second successive MVP for Swatridge without him being on target.

There was also a second clean sheet in a row and a fourth of the season for Garratt. It'll never last!

New keeper can't halt Akers' revenge

17 March 1996, Division Seven at Mannington

KMLC FC 1 Akers Garage 6

The Kylies had notched their first win against Akers a month before but were very much second best in the return fixture.

After Garratt and Lunt had played 'pass the parcel' with the 'keepers' jersey for the first season and a half there was a new name between the sticks - Ian Merry. What the tricky midfielder was doing in goal with Big Al up front is anybody's guess.

The Kylies were missing both Swatridge and Watling which didn't help their cause and it was Al that scored the team's only goal in this heaviest league defeat of the season. Dave Turner made his debut for the team in midfield and shared the Spoons award with four players that weren't present! Sounds like the rest of the team weren't impressed with their reasons for absence.

Merry
Carpenter, Woolford, M.Warr, Gunning
Smedley, B.Warr, Turner, Williams
Kelly, Lunt

Scorer: Lunt

MVP: Lunt
Spoons: Turner, Swatridge, Howell, Watling, Garratt

Another Lyneham loss for Kylies

10 March 1996, Division Seven at RAF Lyneham

Lyneham Athletic 3 KMLC FC 1

A first visit to RAF Lyneham for the Kylies ended in defeat. Whether the security business and walking past Hercules aircraft to get to the pitch unsettled the team we can't be sure. It could just be that Lyneham were better.

They'd had a name change since the first game between the sides (previously RAF Lyneham) but the result went the same way with Gould getting the only goal for the team this time.

Lunt
Summers, Woolford, M.Warr, Gunning
Smedley, B.Warr, Gould, Kelly
Swatridge, Watling
Subs: Carpenter for Summers, Williams for Kelly, Howell for Woolford

Goal: Gould

MVP: Gunning
Spoons: Summers

Kylies Shut out Mannington again

3 March 1996, Division Seven at Mannington

AFC Mannington 0 v KMLC FC 1

In their debut season in the league the Kylies had beaten Mannington twice without conceding a goal. This 1-0 victory meant that feat was achieved for a second season running after a 2-0 win in November.

Swatridge and Carpenter got the goals that day, this time it was Watling with the only goal of the game. There had clearly been some duff weather about as this was only the fourth match of the year for the Kylies. This match would start a run of 11 games in eight weeks.

MVP and spoons were the same for the second week running. You may or may not find that interesting.

Garratt
Summers, Woolford, M.Warr, Gunning
Smedley*, Howell, Gould, Williams
Swatridge, Watling

Goal: Watling

MVP: Watling
Spoons: Gunning

*Summers is listed in defence and midfield on the records. Midfielder likely to be Smedley.
